Overview

The Focusrite RedNet AM2 is a compact Dante-compatible stereo monitoring interface that provides high-quality headphone and balanced line outputs from a Dante audio-over-IP network. Designed for studios, live sound, broadcast, education, and other professional audio environments, it provides an easy way to add local monitoring wherever a Dante connection is available.

RedNet AM2 combines a powerful headphone amplifier with two balanced XLR line outputs, independent headphone and line-level controls, and an integrated Gigabit Ethernet switch. It can be powered through Power over Ethernet or the included 12V DC power supply, making it easy to deploy on a desktop, stage, control room, or microphone stand.

Dante Stereo Monitoring

RedNet AM2 receives two channels of audio directly from a Dante network and converts them to high-quality analogue outputs for monitoring. Audio can be routed to headphones, powered speakers, amplifiers, or other line-level equipment, making the unit a flexible endpoint for networked audio systems.

Powerful Headphone Amplifier

The front-panel 1/4-inch TRS headphone output is designed to drive a wide range of headphones, including high-impedance models up to 600Ω. Its high output capability makes RedNet AM2 suitable for detailed studio monitoring as well as high-SPL applications on stage or at front-of-house positions.

Balanced Line Outputs

Two rear-panel male XLR connectors provide balanced stereo line outputs for powered monitors, amplifiers, mixing equipment, or other professional audio systems. The output reference level can be switched between +18dBu and +24dBu to accommodate different professional system requirements.

Independent Monitoring Controls

Large dedicated controls provide separate adjustment of headphone and line output levels. The line output section also includes a convenient mute button, allowing engineers to instantly silence connected speakers or amplifiers without interrupting the headphone monitoring signal.

Power over Ethernet

RedNet AM2 can receive power, audio, clocking, and control through a single Ethernet connection using IEEE 802.3af Class 0 Power over Ethernet. An included 12V DC power supply provides an alternative when PoE is not available.

Integrated Gigabit Network Switch

The two locking etherCON network ports are connected to an integrated Gigabit Ethernet switch. One port can connect the AM2 to the Dante network while the second can be used to connect another compatible network device, simplifying cabling in suitable installations.

Professional Digital Conversion

RedNet AM2 uses a two-channel Dante receiver and high-quality D-A conversion supporting sample rates from 44.1kHz through 96kHz at 24-bit resolution. The line output provides up to 120dB typical A-weighted dynamic range, while the headphone output provides up to 118dB typical A-weighted dynamic range.

Clear Status Monitoring

Front-panel indicators provide immediate information about power, network connectivity, and signal level. The signal indicators show green at normal levels, orange at -6dBFS, and red at 0dBFS, helping users monitor network audio levels at a glance.

Flexible Placement

The compact enclosure is suitable for desktop or portable use and includes non-slip feet for secure placement. A standard 3/8-inch BSW threaded mount on the underside allows RedNet AM2 to be installed directly on a compatible microphone stand, placing headphone and line monitoring controls conveniently near performers or engineers.
