  1. KORG Headtune HT U1 - Ukulele

The HeadTune is a clip-on tuner with a unique design that’s based on the shape of a guitar, bass, or ukulele headstock. With the headtune attached to the headstock of your instrument, play a single note on the string that you want to tune. 2 x indicators will illuminate: the string indicator LED will show the peg position, and the LED meter will indicate the tuning of that note. This makes it obvious which peg needs to be adjusted.

You can choose from a lineup consisting of 4 x models: 2 x models that are suitable for standard guitar headstocks, a model for bass, and a model for ukulele. With the innovation and precision you expect from Korg, the HeadTune makes tuning easy.

The HeadTune is designed with a shape that matches the headstock of typical guitars, basses, and ukuleles. When you play a single note, the built-in piezo pickup will instantly detect the pitch of the vibrating string. 2 x types of LEDs will light up: a string indicator LED, to indicate the peg location, and an LED meter to indicate the pitch. This makes it obvious which peg you should adjust and how it should be adjusted. Since you can tune your instrument even if you don’t remember the note names of each open string, this makes using the headtune especially easy for beginners.

Ukuleles are compact, four-stringed instruments known for their bright, cheerful tone and easy playability. Originating from traditional Portuguese stringed instruments and later popularized in Hawaiian music, the ukulele has become a globally recognized instrument used in a wide variety of musical styles including pop, folk, jazz, and contemporary acoustic music. Its lightweight design and approachable learning curve make it an ideal instrument for beginners while still offering expressive musical potential for experienced players.

Modern ukuleles are crafted using a range of tonewoods and materials to achieve distinct tonal characteristics. Whether used for casual playing, live performance, songwriting, or studio recording, the ukulele delivers a warm, vibrant sound that fits well in both solo and ensemble settings.

Types of Ukuleles

  • Soprano Ukuleles: The smallest and most traditional size, producing the classic bright ukulele tone with a compact body and short scale length.
  • Concert Ukuleles: Slightly larger than soprano models, offering increased projection, fuller tone, and more fretboard space for comfortable playing.
  • Tenor Ukuleles: Popular among professional players for their deeper tone, extended range, and enhanced resonance.
  • Baritone Ukuleles: The largest standard ukulele size, tuned differently from other models and producing a richer, guitar-like tonal character.

Ukulele Tonewoods and Construction

The sound and response of a ukulele are greatly influenced by the materials used in its construction. Common tonewoods include mahogany, koa, spruce, and maple, each contributing unique tonal qualities such as warmth, brightness, or clarity. Quality craftsmanship and proper construction ensure balanced projection, smooth playability, and long-lasting durability.

Why Choose a Ukulele

Ukuleles are widely appreciated for their accessibility, portability, and distinctive sound. With fewer strings and a smaller fretboard compared to guitars, they are easy to learn and comfortable to play. Musicians often use ukuleles for songwriting, travel performances, and acoustic arrangements where a bright and lively tone is desired.

Choosing the Right Ukulele

Selecting the right ukulele depends on factors such as size, tone preference, playing style, and comfort. Beginners often start with soprano or concert models for their traditional sound and ease of use, while more experienced players may prefer tenor or baritone instruments for expanded tonal depth and playing range.

Whether you are learning your first chords or expanding your instrument collection, ukuleles offer a versatile and enjoyable musical experience. Explore our selection of ukuleles designed for excellent tone, comfortable playability, and reliable performance across all levels of musicianship.
